Amelia Earhart

American aviation pioneer and first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Amelia Earhart was an American aviator, author, lecturer, and organizer who set multiple aviation records, promoted women’s participation in flight, and disappeared with navigator Fred Noonan during a 1937 circumnavigation attempt. Her public contribution combined long-distance aviation, public communication, organizational advocacy through the Ninety-Nines, commercial sponsorship, and visible challenge to gender restrictions in technical fields.
